Lizards, Corn, and refridgerators

Boy can this girl shuck some corn!!! Meredith and I were anxious for Cory to get home on Monday night and we decided to take a trip to WalMart to get a few items that we forgot on our Friday trip. We first went to the gardening section and got some Petunias for our flower bed. We don't really seem to branch away from Petunias every year. They last so long and look so pretty, you just can't go wrong. We then went and got our few grocery items and saw fresh corn. I was so excited. This has to be the best time of year when you can get all kinds of good produce. I CANNOT wait for our garden to get to the place where I can pick!!! Meredith obviously had a good time shucking this corn. It was a fun experience for her and she wanted to eat it right away. You can't beat 25 cent an ear. All I can say is we should have gotten more. Today we went to Ladies Prayer meeting and then came home. Meredith needed to nap early so that she could go over to Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Gene's . Aunt Lindsey came over after school and loaded Meredith up.....off I went to clean. I got a good amount done and mom was nice enough to agree to keep Meredith up until church tommorrow night. After work tommorrow morning I should be able to get a fair amount done.
I failed to mention our new friend....the Lizard. He is hanging out around our front porch and just about every time we go outside we have a sighting. It is really cute to watch Meredith talk about the lizard jumping and imitate his movements. On a bad note...Cory and I noticed tonight that our freezer did not feel cold...and some of our food had thawed. We then looked in the fridge section and it did ont seem very cold either....OMG!!!!! Our fridge is currently packed with food and it is all getting warm. I am trying not to freak out. Cory has been on the phone and working on it for a couple of hours now and all I can think about is how it is 10:15 pm and what are we going to do about our food????

Whirlwind Weekend

So, our weekend was very busy and I really was just too tired to post. We were so glad for Cory to be home. He didn't make it home until after 9 on Friday night, so I had to do my best to keep Meredith up, and boy did we regret it. She woke up a little after midnight and had a rough night. Cory was back to work by Saturday morning and Meredith got to spend a day with her Aunt Drew. I could tell they both really enjoyed that. I had to teach all day. Saturday evening we recovered from our busy days and long night. Sunday was church and I have to admit I was coming down with either a bad cold or some serious pollen issues. I haven't been able to breathe for 4-5 days now. I think that may also be why I am so tired. After church we went out to eat and Meredith wanted to "march" all over the resturant. She napped well and we played outside. She played out with daddy and then later with me. We drew out her shark game for the birthday party.

I am very excited that our garden is growing and even more excited about her birthday party and Cory's family coming.

Apology

I guess an apology is in order after my blog yesterday. I realized (after it was brought to my attention) that maybe my vent session on my childcare situation may have been a little harsh. So, for those of you that read it, forgive me, and for those of you who did not, then no harm done. My blog shouldn't only be used to vent my frustrations, but to keep you guys up to date. I have edited my original thoughts to be a little more positive. You have to see that there are always those who appear to have it better than you, BUT there are also those less fortunate...right?

Moving on....today we hit the ground running and got our grocery trip out of the way. We are really looking forward to our Daddy/Cory reunion tonight. I will have to post later on how that goes.

Everyone has bad days, Right??

So, I think most of you would be thankful that I did not post yesterday, I was having a day of it!!! It was not only a busy day, but I also was dwelling on how selfish this world in general has become. It seemed like on every turn, I was so impressed on how selfish people can be. God help us all to give a little more of ourselve and think of others first before US!!!! Other than that we had a good day. Hannah had been wanting to play with Meredith and likewise. So, they spent the day together at Hannah's house and I was able to go and visit Emily and new baby Cindy for a while. We even made a much needed trip to Babies R' US. The girls obviously had a blast. I think what added to my day was that Meredith started asking for Daddy a lot and I know it is hard to understand where he is and why he is not home. This to shall pass right?

Today has been lots of fun. Story time day is always an adventure. Meredith brought her Kitty Cat along for the story time. Only one more week left. I guess in that case maybe Thursdays will be zoo day instead. Today we also got up to 83 degrees which is just about enough to make a Carolina Girl grin!!! We also got to pick out a mothers day gift...fun fun!!! I got an offer to go to the Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday and I am sooooooooooo bummed that I won't be going. With Cory being on call and just getting back in town....and my ever present childcare issue I had to just let it go. Finding help with Meredith has often led to alot of stress for me, but God is helping me to do less of what I want and sacrifice to be with her. Counting down the days till mom retires!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Meredith is playing out in the sandbox and having fun!!! We also got a package in with her birthday goodies and that was super fun. Meredith wanted to open everything now. I was also glad today to get some of my chore list done. It made me feel good. There is only one benefit to Cory being gone.....I am not cooking dinner!!! I think that has given me at least a little time to do a few things I wouldn't normally have time to do. I still have PLENTY on my list as well as the regular stuff to take care of. Oh well, a woman's work is never done, right??

Monday Mayhem and Trip to Grammy's

I can't say we did a whole lot on Monday. We both were sulking that Cory was gone. Meredith just kept hugging and hugging him when he left. It was almost like she understood he was leaving and I wouldn't be surprised if she did. Monday night we decided to load up and go to Grammy's house because Papa Steve was in Tampa. What a fun girl's night we had!! Mom let me sleep in a little and I thought that was GREAT!!! After taking about 4 hours to get ready to leave the house--j/k, we left to go to a mall downtown that we never really go to . It was a fun trip and Meredith slept much of the way. We were able to shop a little and thanks to Grammy I have 2 much needed shirts and 1 cute casual dress. Thanks Grammy!!! We also got our Clinique bonus and makeup for summer.

After our long day, we came home to watch Meredith's new favorite movie--The Jungle Book--and nap. That picture is of her watching the movie. I caught her marching with the elephants in the movie after I came in from watering our garden. Wish I would have gotten that shot!!! I got some pictures today in the tub and after the tub that I have to share as well. Being that daddy is out-of town.....you would have thought he was going to be gone forever the way I am talking.....we have to put plenty of pics out there for him to keep up to date. I have to say this blog has been really fun...and several people have thanked me for it.

My child can make some faces now!!! We ae counting down the days till Cory's family arrives in town. 2 and a half weeks left. Boy do I need to get it together. Please pray that I will have a clear mind to remember all that I would like to do before they arrive. I am so excited. We are especially looking forward to going to the beach and praying for good weather. I know things around here don't have to be perfect, but most of you that know me at all know I would like them to be as close as possible!!! I think maybe making a list would help...I guess I should work on that. Goodnight to all!!

Booming Baby Weekend!!

Friday had to be one of the busiest days ever...so needless to say I did not get a chance to make an entry...I got home last night at 4AM. Our friends Marc and Emily had there little "surprise" package delivered at 215 AM and I stuck it out with them. Emily did wonderful...I was so inspired and blessed to be able to be there for her delivery . Little Cindy Renee' was born to two very great people. She was so beautiful and after her Uncle Cory gets to meet her today we may have a pic. to include. I am never bored or less amazed, even after all the deliveries I have been a part of, at how wonderful God made us and what a truely awesome God He is.

I also had the PLEASURE of having Allie for the day and we went to the zoo. The girls had a blast and they really loved the animals. This weekend was busy for sure.
Cory will be in Asheville next week and I am NOT looking forward to that. He is such a good help to me that this week sure won't be the same without him
I can't believe how time is flying, you know people say that, but until you are in the moment you don't realize it. Meredith is growing up sooooo fast. She is such a good girl...and I am not bragging. This doesn't mean she does not have her moments...they all do, but today I have especially been reflecting on how blessed we really are. I say that to say that I am hoping that doesn't mean we are in for it with our next child...whenever that may be. I know God gives grace. We are really enjoying this stage as she is able to interact soooo much and soaking in everything. She is so much fun. I was told this weekend what a cute personality she has, and for this I am thankful.

Hats off to YOU!!!

So our latest fad is Meredith putting Pull-Ups on her head. She likes to pretend they are hats. It is almost more than I can handle...I get so tickled that I have to laugh out loud. Last night she went to bed with one on her head and insisted that she sleep like that....HOW FUNNY!!!! She rode to story time today with one on her head, and thankfully let me remove it before we went in the library. SHEW!!!

We are getting ready for the big TWO birthday extravaganza!!! My car is loaded down with decor' and goody items for those who can come. I am really exicted. I just hope I can pull this all together and get my house in order for Cory's mom, sister, brother-in-law, and cousin Kedrick. We are so excited about them coming. Hopefully next week mom and I will be making a Shark toss game for the kids to play. I am just praying for a nice, HOT, May afternoon.

Ashley Anne already knows I will be recruting her for some afternoon help to get it all done. Work for me is booming right now....Cory is busy too....ON CALL next week---YUK!!!! But I guess we can be thankful we have jobs, right???

Easter 2008

This is the basket that the Easter bunny brougth Meredith. She wanted to open everything right away of course. We let her...benefits of being the one and only!! She had stickers, lip gloss, fingernail polish, bubbles, a pony, and a few other things. She wanted to know where the dyed eggs went. We told her the Easter bunny took the eggs and replaced them with her prizes. She just kept saying "eggs, eggs?" If I would have let her she would have peeled and eaten every one!!!

We went to church and had a great service on resurrection. It was really a blessing. This picture is of Grammy and Meredith. How cute. Grammy bought Meredith her dress and red shoes and she looked absolutely adorable!!! It was really a beautiful day!! We went for dinner at mom and dad's house. Paul and Drew got Meredith a harmonica...and boy can she play!!

Potty Training

I know some day she is really gonna hate me for posting these pics, but they are just too cute!! Potty training is all people say and more. Now don't get me wrong...it hasn't been horrible, just a definite process. Between being on the go and working here and there, it can be a challenge. Meredith is doing so well. And of course, I am proud. She seems to really want to please. Maybe that is just part of being the first child. It sooo nice to see those diapers disappear!!! I won't miss those a bit!! GO Meredith!!!!

In The Beginning..

So I was inspired several months ago by my neighbor as she journied through Breast Cancer through support from her blog. And I thought to myself...what a great way to journal your everyday thoughts and experiences and it lead me to think about starting my own blog. Being that Cory's family is out-of -town and all over the country, this could be a great thing!! You can say more here and post pics too. And for those of you who know Cory at all....what a penny pincher...this could also save a phone bill too!!! So here I am in my feeble attempt to begin a blog. Of course, being the perfectionist that I tend to be, I want it to be perfect from the start. But right now God has me in a place in my life (with our toddler) that perfection is out the window and we are just striving to do the best we can. Isn't that we all want? Just to be our BEST self? At least having a child has magnified that idea in my brain...for HER sake I want to be the best that I can be. So here she is, in all her glory, ready for last weeks' story time at the library. Wow do those pigtails suit her!!! HAHAHA!! She certainly keeps me smiling. So knowing where to start is key....guess I will have to back track some and build from there. I hope you guys enjoy!!
